Its main limitation is that the older locks may require specific replacement parts or a prior technical identification. It is not enough to choose an anti-bumping cylinder by its price: you have to confirm the cam, profile, length and compatibility with the escutcheon. On a deteriorated door, with a weak frame or a faulty multi-point lock, it may be preferable to repair the assembly before fitting a high-security cylinder.

The cylinder should sit flush or with a minimal projection relative to the escutcheon.
